Lindsey has a problem with old tired actors and she’s not sexist, like Ashley Judd thinks people are– she doesn’t want Will Smith’s old tired face up on her screen either.

  1. Re: Star Trek
Keep in mind, when Star Trek was created and what was happening in the country at the time. War brewing (while still recovering from WWII), civil rights issues, hippies everywhere, space exploration was finally becoming a reality. In the 50’s TV was all about cowboys/indians and the 60s’ left the past behind and embraced space-cowboys. The country needed something Utopian and positive in entertainment; people needed to imagine that we’ll be able to work together in the future no matter if we’re black, white, red, purple or even female. Roddenberry’s future brought hope and excitement for the future.

    Re: Will Smith

I was never really into Will Smith, but I lost all interest/faith in humanity when teaching high school general music, Will Smith was the only musician featured in the chapter on rap music. That is one of the worst things I have ever seen…EVER.

    • I still think that the vision Roddenberry had for humanity is something that we can dream about today. The issues, suffering, wars, are seemingly always going to be around.

      • Oh, I totally agree. I just think that in 1966, America was really on the cusp of many things and that was a very special time to launch such a show. An African American woman had a prominent role on a television show in the ’60s. That was huge. If you haven’t watched, it I highly recommend the clip of Nichelle Nichols talking about when she Martin Luther King Jr. http://youtu.be/pqoZ0C0cnRE

My parents were in high school when Star Trek aired and it’s interesting hearing about it from them and about how it was a great escape for my dad, when he got drafted.

    • Without Will Smith people never would have known that parents just don’t understand. He brought so much grit to the rap scene and to America’s faces.

Typing that made me physically ill.

  2. Strictly Ballroom has secretly been one of my favorite movies for years. I guess I’m out of the closet now. I must say though, my least favorite part is that one line they keep repeating throughout the whole damn thing: “One bad egg can ruin the whole barrel.” …OMG huh?? Eggs don’t come in barrels! If you had a BARREL FULL OF EGGS they would all be “bad eggs”, right??? Ugh. Took me out of the whole film.

    • Hahaha- I had no idea what was going on through half of that film. I was like a toddler the entire time. Look! Sparkles! Heee, one person is even named Sparkle! Look! He’s dressed like a bull fighter! Now that I think about it, I can’t really remember them talking. I think they were Australian…?

  3. I would live in the Star Trek universe as well.

Hate fuck is my new favorite thing.

Ive given up sodas for the most part. I don’t really miss them.

    • Well he isn’t one officially but he is still ostensibly attached to them.

My only problem with him has to do with how whenever he is attached to something its almost a sure thing that the film is going to be PG-13 regardless if that rating fits the film or not.

And I think both Hancock and I am Legend suffered greatly for it, there are very few post apocalyptic vampire movies that are good and pg-13.

I am also having trouble with the concept of hate fucking, hatred makes my penis soft…so how does that work exactly?

      • I’m not sure I get it either but I was afraid of sounding dumb, LOL. But since the question has been posed and I no longer feel dumb about asking… Yeah, how does one hate fuck exactly? I mean, I can hate punch, hate kick, maybe even hate spit on a really bad day, but I don’t know if I could have sex with someone I actually hate.

        • I mean I know I posed the idea of fuck buddies, but I had that in mind to be with someone (or something I guess since we were talking about buildings) you had a crush on, not someone you hate. Eh?

        • Being on urban dictionary may prove that its a buzz word or something cool kids say…not sure if it means that is something that actually happens.

“The act of fucking a person that you despise. Such an act is typically characterized by name calling, roughness, and immediate departure after the act.
The girl was a loud mouthed hippie who talked shit about me at a party once, so I took her home, hate fucked her, and kicked her out.”

“Hate fuck(ed)-over” seems to be a more accurate phrase but it’s not as succinct or roll off the tongue as well as “hate fuck”.

The other definitions on that link get progressively sociopathic as it goes down the list.

On another note, now that a couple of weeks have passed are you guys happy or sad you didn’t buy into any FB stock?
